320 Rave Reviews From Yoga Alliance

The teacher training program at the Soul of Yoga has been formulated by a body of incredible human beings, each of whom has dedicated their lives to serving others and providing Yoga for the world. The program is thoughtful, effective, and gives the participants a fantastic education in the history, philosophy and practices of Yoga. The course does a great job covering each of the major modern lineages along with a look into the historical texts of the Bhagavad Gita and the Vedic traditions. The training also covers training in anatomy and physiology with specializations offered in Vinyasa, Gentle, Kundalini, and Yin yoga. I couldn’t recommend this program enough – I’m so glad I chose Soul of Yoga, and look forward to participating in many more training opportunities with them.
Alex Turner
I really enjoyed my 200hour training at the Soul of Yoga. I have since completed other trainings through the Soul such as Yin yoga training, Trauma informed yoga training, Pre- natal, and kids yoga. I have taken various workshops with them as well and highly recommend them both as a yoga certification school and a yoga studio offering many types of classes. I give them an A+ rating and 5 stars.

Francine Brule

You will learn so many concepts and teachings across so many levels and be able to integrate them into your daily life, as well as your personal and professional practice. I am so grateful to have found this studio. Highly recommend!!

I loved my yoga teacher training at Soul of Yoga. My core instructors met me right where I was at, offering a deep and vibrant education that has changed the course of my life. Instruction was offered in a “consent-based” fashion, modeling the teaching style I have come to emulate – one of acceptance and kind guidance. This approach to yoga embraces the humanity of yoga while teaching the awe-inspiring, deeply fulfilling roots of yoga that clarifies mind, body and spirit. I have such gratitude for my experience, and now feel I have a firm foundation from which to pay it forward.
Cathie Daniels-Landeros
I could not be happier with my Soul of Yoga Institute experience. The teachers come from diverse backgrounds and experiences, were highly knowledgeable of Kundalini Yoga, and shared a passion for the healing the practice can offer. The permission-oriented and trauma- sensitive approach helped me better understand how to show up as a teacher and to commit to my daily Sadhana for ongoing healing and transformation. I cannot say enough positive things about the training and overall experience. Learning through a felt sense experience is what it was all about.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much of the training can I do by recordings only?2025-05-24T07:49:27-07:00

For a 200-hour Registered Yoga School (RYS 200) program, Yoga Alliance now requires a minimum of 30 hours (15% of the curriculum) to be delivered synchronously (live, real-time contact with faculty online or in-person). That means the remaining 170 hours—up to 85% of the training—may be delivered asynchronously (self-paced videos, readings, assignments, etc.)

How long does it take to complete the certification?2025-05-24T07:49:52-07:00

The certification can sometimes be completed in as quickly as 9 months, but the average time is closer to a year. We allow up to two years if needed.

Are meals and lodging included?2025-05-24T07:50:57-07:00

This is not a residential program with food and lodging included, although many students travel for this training and find local lodging with friends or family, vacation rentals, or hotels.  Lunch breaks are 1 hour and 30 minutes to allow plenty of time to find nourishment, and there are many local options for healthy food within ½ mile of the Institute facility.

What materials or books are required for this training?2025-05-24T07:52:05-07:00

There is very limited required materials or books.  The Yoga Toolbox asana manual is required.  There will be many other books presented as suggestions along the teacher training, and you can choose to read more where you have a genuine drive and curiosity to explore.

Why would I do this vs other programs?2025-05-24T07:53:33-07:00

Ideal for the yoga explorer, the breadth of knowledge, experiences, styles, lineages, and philosophy’s that you will encounter will likely not be found in any other programs.  We don’t shy away from either dimension of mysticism or science.

We don’t simplify it because it is the first level of training.  An you will get different perspectives from many different teachers.  We don’t shy away from contradictions as we believe in the student’s ability to discern what is the “truth” out of the different views presented.

There is time for integration as you learn many mind blowing concepts and deepen your practice over a lengthy period, rather than cramming it all in to just a few weeks.

You have the ability to specialize in one or more styles of yoga, and you don’t have to choose that specialty until you have enough experience to know the right specialty for you.

The flexibility between in-person, live online, and recorded video allows you to choose how to get the most out of this program given your personal demands and schedule.

Where is the training held? (note can also attend Live online and will have all the recordings)2025-05-23T19:58:45-07:00

The in person training location is at Soul of Yoga Institute 701 Garden View Ct, Encinitas, CA 92024.

Are there any discounts, payment plans or scholarships?2025-05-23T19:58:22-07:00

There are discounts for military, veterans and seniors. Spouses of active military members be able to utilize their MYCAA funding.

Soul of Yoga does offer payment plans and pay in full discounts.

Am I physically able to do this training? Will I be out of place?2025-05-29T09:39:46-07:00

The ages and abilities vary significantly, and you can be absolutely certain that no matter your flexibility, body type, or age that you will feel very welcome in this training.

What type of certification will I receive at the end of the training?2025-05-29T09:40:07-07:00

Upon graduating from Soul of Yoga’s RYS-200 program, the Soul of Yoga gives you a “200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training Certificate” that lists the school’s name, the 200-hour designation, your name, the completion date and a hand-signed signature from the lead trainer or owner—Yoga Alliance requires every school to include these elements.

If you later decide to register with Yoga Alliance, you upload that Soul of Yoga certificate, pay the application fee and annual dues, and once the organization verifies your record it confers the “Registered Yoga Teacher 200” (RYT 200) credential. At that point you can download a Yoga Alliance–branded RYT 200 certificate and digital badge from your member dashboard. In short, the school awards your primary completion certificate at graduation, while Yoga Alliance issues an optional credential and branded certificate only after you apply and are approved.

Is there an exam or assessment at the end of the training?2025-05-29T09:41:19-07:00

There is no exam or required teaching demonstration at the end of the training.

We are required by Yoga Alliance to assess the knowledge, skills and experience of students before issuing a 200-hour yoga teacher training certificate.  Our assessment includes your participation in the entire training (In-Person, Live-Online, or Recorded Video), completion of all assignments, and through your participation demonstrating that you understand the requirements to teach yoga.
