Moving In and Moving Out – The Beauty of Transitions
July 27 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm| $45 – $60
“Vina Vinyasa Yogena asanadih na karayet”
“Oh Yogi, do not practice asana without vinyasa” Vamana Rishi
Starting with the breath and moving slowly through each individual posture, ashtanga can be a daunting practice, moving through one pose to the next, in a set series that is done daily. The practice of ashtanga can seem like poor Sisyphus pushing his boulder up the hill in futility, the peak never attainable or closer. This daily ritual though, is were the magic takes place, through the use of bandhas and breath the seemingly mundane and repetitive actions become so much more.
This workshop will cover safe functional movement of the body without distorting the asana, including modifications and “research” postures. Using demonstrations and anatomy we will cover the transitions between asanas and the ability to move with steadiness and ease. Prepare to sweat and leave with a better understanding of moving with the breath.
