Why Kundalini Studies at Soul of Yoga Institute
Kundalini draws curious, courageous seekers. Many first meet it through modern Western routes, then start asking deeper questions. Good questions demand straight practice, plain history, and a way to discern what feels aligned for you and what does not.
Our program centers Traditional Kundalini Tantra as the backbone. You will study pranayama, bandha, mudra, mantra, kriya, meditation, and sadhana through traditional sources and lived practice. Where we include modern material, it is clearly labeled “As Taught By Yogi Bhajan” or “ATBYB” so you always know the source. We teach this immersion with transparency so that you get to choose your way of teaching.
How we do this and what you gain:
What you will practice:
- Breath mechanics, bandha precision, and kriya design for energetic effect and safety.
- Traditional preparatory practices for cleansing, steadiness, and sustainable ascent.
- Subtle anatomy frameworks: chakras, nadis, prana vayus, and progressive awakening models.
- Trauma-aware, consent-based teaching that holds space with skill and humility.
The result is a practitioner and teacher who can work with Kundalini energy without needing to affiliate with a single modern figure or brand. You will graduate ready to lead energy-aware classes, guide students ethically, and keep your own practice strong and true.

Yes. ATBYB material is identified throughout. Traditional sources are referenced so you can teach and practice transparently.
Can I mix formats if my schedule changes?
Yes. You can combine in‑person, live online, and recorded options.
Does this count for CEUs?
Yes. This program offers Yoga Alliance CEU hours upon completion.
What is the Yogi Bhajan controversy?
Yogi Bhajan (Harbhajan Singh Khalsa) popularized a modern style of “Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan.” In recent years many former students shared accounts of sexual misconduct, manipulation, and abuse. An independent review commissioned by organizations connected to his community found many of these reports credible. The result has been deep grief, necessary accountability, and a wide-ranging reevaluation of how Kundalini teachings are held and shared.
We stand with the victims. Their courage called the community back to truth, safety, and integrity. In light of this, we have rethought our approach.
While we share some of the ATBYB techniques, we focus on where we can trace the origins prior to him. Many people have grown accustomed to his style and would like to learn how to teach it so we include his style but will always disclose the source of each mantra, and practice. These are clearly labeled in your lengthy Manual and Resource Guide.
