A Broad Foundation for Personal Growth and Teaching

Pranayama, breathwork, and meditation
Develop direct experience with breath, meditation, and contemplative practices as part of your own growth.
Teaching methodology
Develop teaching skill through Asana Labs, practicum opportunities, and teaching-methodology sessions.
Accessibility, equity, and ethics
Study accessibility, equity in yoga, the Yoga Alliance Code of Conduct, and scope of practice.
Professional development
Prepare for the professional side of teaching, including a development workshop on the business of yoga.

What “Online” Actually Means Here
This is not a video library you work through alone. Live interaction stays at the center, and the format can change with your life.

Live Online
Join faculty and classmates over Zoom at scheduled times, ask questions, practice teaching, and receive feedback in real time.

Recorded Support
Review key material and make up missed portions without turning the whole program into solitary, self-paced study.

Optional In Person
Come to Encinitas for any part of the training whenever you wish—simply let Admissions know—or complete the entire pathway online from anywhere.
See the rhythm before you commit
What the Training Year Looks Like
Begin any time. The three Core Modules repeat each year in September, January, and May, and you start with whichever one comes next. Weekly labs continue throughout your training, while your chosen 50-hour specialty follows its own published schedule.
48 Asana Lab Hours
Two one-hour live time options are offered each week for guided practice and teaching development.
Tapas and the Courage to Change
A one-week Monday–Friday intensive, held each September.
Spirit, Science, and the Power of Yoga
A one-week Monday–Friday intensive, held each January.
Samadhi and Skill
A one-week Monday–Friday intensive, held each May.
One 50-Hour Path
Choose Yin, Kundalini, Hatha/Gentle, or Vinyasa. Each follows its own published schedule.
The Core Modules form a repeating annual cycle, not a required sequence. Each runs 8:30 a.m.–6:00 p.m. Pacific, with scheduled breaks to reduce screen fatigue for online students.
Is this the right format for you?
Built for a Full Life—not an Empty Calendar
The online path may fit if…
- You work, care for family, or live far from Encinitas.
- You want a live teacher—not only recorded lessons.
- You value a steady practice rhythm more than a rushed certificate.
- You need the option to review or make up missed portions.
Consider mixing in campus learning if…
- Hands-on, room-based learning is essential to your confidence.
- Being physically present helps you protect time for practice.
- You want selected module weeks to feel like a retreat.
- You would benefit from changing formats as your schedule shifts.
A foundation with somewhere to go

Common questions
Online 200-Hour Training FAQs
The practical details most students want before taking the next step.
Can I complete the entire 200-hour training online?
Yes. The weekly Asana Labs, three Core Modules, and all four specialty paths can be completed live online. Recordings are available to review material and make up missed portions.
Is this a self-paced video course?
No. Live Zoom teaching, faculty interaction, guided practice, and weekly labs are central to the program. Recordings support the live experience rather than replacing it.
When can I start, and how long does it take?
You can start at any time and pace the training around the module schedule. Students can finish in as little as nine months, many plan for about a year, and up to two years is available when more flexibility is needed.
What are the weekly live requirements?
The curriculum includes 48 hours of weekly Asana Labs. Two one-hour live time options are offered each week, giving students a practical way to maintain consistent guided study. These can also be done by recorded video if the timing of the live session does not work for you.
Are all four specialty paths available online?
Yes. Vinyasa Yoga, Hatha and Gentle Yoga, Yin Yoga, and Shakti Kundalini Yoga can each be completed live online, with recordings for missed portions.
Can I switch between online and in-person training?
Yes. You can move between live online, recorded support, and in-person training in Encinitas at any time. Simply let Admissions know when you would like to attend in person.
Is Soul of Yoga registered with Yoga Alliance?
Yes. Soul of Yoga Institute is a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School at the 200-hour level. Graduates who complete the requirements may apply to register with Yoga Alliance as an RYT 200.
How much is tuition?
Tuition is $3,833. Paying in full at enrollment reduces tuition by $150. A payment plan is also available with a 25% non-refundable deposit and an 8% service fee on the remaining balance.
Do I need advanced poses or prior teaching experience?
No. The prerequisite is a love of yoga. The training welcomes students who want to teach and students who primarily want deeper personal study.
