Yoga Therapy is a growing profession within the healthcare industry. Yoga Therapists have uniquely valuable skill sets and tools which have been proven beneficial for a very large range of conditions and populations. From back pain and anxiety, to heart disease, grief and addictive behaviours, one would be hard pressed to find another integrated modality that is able to successfully address so many varied situations. This course will provide you with the essential understanding you need to take your training out into the world as a professional.

This course will help you understand the ways and means of the heathcare industry; HIPAA laws, scope of practice, referral protocols, professional ethics and insurance billing. It will also provide you with a foundational understanding of the framework of integrated health organisations and how to best work within the system.

You’ll also learn how to market yourself, convey the concept of Yoga Therapy to the public and other professionals, and learn the basics of web based outreach.

Because Yoga Therapy is a unique form of care, we’ll also discuss how our profession is different, where we fit in, and how an overarching understanding of spirituality and intuitive sense ultimately guides our work to help others.

Schedule: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm daily (PST).

Tuition: Ala Carte $600. Elective in 300hr Teacher Training. Included in Advanced Yoga Therapy Training.

Monique Lonner – Yoga Therapist, is the Director and creator of Soul of Yoga Institute Advanced Yoga Teacher Training and Yoga Therapy Training Programs. A Yoga teacher for 15 years, she studied in India, New York and California with Master teachers and spiritual sages including, most notably, the teaching faculty of the Soul of Yoga Institute Advanced Program. Drawing upon her professional skills as a non-profit event organizer she developed the Advanced Teacher Training and Yoga Therapy Program for Soul of Yoga, bringing together those who are considered to be the best of the best Master yoga teachers in the world today. A devoted spiritual seeker, as well as an experienced anatomy and physiology teacher she has created a comprehensive program which balances the study of Yoga Therapy technique with the insight and wisdom of Yogic and metaphysical philosophy.

the profession of yoga therapyMalisa Szalkiewicz, MEd, E-RYT 500, C-IAYT has dedicated herself to education for 25 years. Having earned a Master of Bilingual/Multicultural Education Degree, Malisa has the heart of a teacher. Once she started teaching yoga in 2007, her entire world became immersed in the practice. As the owner/manager of Northern Arizona Yoga Center & Vertical Soul Yoga Institute, she has prioritized co-creating a local yoga community, directed yearly teacher trainings, and managed her own studio. In 2018, she expanded her yoga offerings by working as a yoga therapist with neurosurgeon Whitney James, MD. Malisa teaches yoga techniques to patients in chronic pain (many of them spinal surgery candidates) to help them reduce their medications and stress while transforming their relationship with pain. She co-owns Inner Atlas, which offers a comprehensive model for patient care. From high school gyms to medical offices, Malisa has shared her passion for yoga with thousands of people.

the profession of yoga therapyKori Moore-Gibson, C-IAYT is an avid learner and lifetime student of Yoga, Kori Moore-Gibson graduated from Northern Arizona University with a Secondary Education degree, and her passion for equitable education and deepening self-awareness helped to prepare her for her continuing life path as a Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT) and Yoga Teacher (500 hour+). In addition to running a private yoga therapy practice out of her home studio in Flagstaff , Arizona, Kori co-facilitates the Inner Atlas chronic pain management program and works one-on-one with patients in Dr. James’ Neuromodulatory clinic. It is her greatest joy to support individuals by educating them on how to take a balanced approach to health and wellness through the accessible incorporation of the sacred tools of yoga. She is very grateful for the inspiration and teachings of all her teachers throughout the years, and for the practices of Yoga (which comes from India). Kori loves eating nourishing food, hiking, biking, traveling, and enjoying life with her daughter, husband and two dogs.

Brenda specializes in working with individuals recovering from alcohol and drug addiction. Her expertise lies in utilizing the power of yoga as a therapeutic tool to address the underlying causes of addictive and self-destructive behaviors. Brenda guides her students through a healing process that repairs the roots of their challenges, allowing them to find renewed strength, clarity, and purpose.

Having struggled with addiction issues herself, Brenda intimately understands the challenges and triumphs her students face. She has embraced a clean and sober lifestyle since 2015, making her a living testament to the power of yoga and its ability to bring about profound positive change. Brenda completed a rigorous 200-hour YTT in India and is a proud graduate from the esteemed Soul of Yoga 500 YTT and Yoga Therapy Program.

the profession of yoga therapyAmitice Lisa Saremi, MFT, C-IAYT, E-RYT 500, merges her roles as a seasoned Marriage and Family Therapist, Yoga Teacher, and visionary founder of Limitless-U to foster holistic healing and transformation. With an MA in Clinical Depth Psychology from the Pacifica Graduate Institute and deep-rooted understanding of trauma and addiction, she curates a healing approach that addresses the complexity of the human psyche.

As a graduate of The Soul of Yoga’s Yoga Therapy program, Lisa transmits her comprehensive professional expertise into enriching teachings. In her role as an educator, Lisa provides comprehensive guidance to individuals on their journey through grief, trauma, and major life transitions. Her support proves particularly transformative for those undertaking the challenging path towards overcoming addiction. Lisa’s work symbolizes the remarkable metamorphosis of a caterpillar into a butterfly, epitomizing the potential for growth and transformation inherent in us all.

the profession of yoga therapyFlossie Park, E-RYT 500 YACEP always considering herself as a student of life, Flossie has dedicated her life to empowering herself and others through yoga, meditation, workshops, retreats, Sound Therapy and numerous other modalities for over 25 years. One of Flossie’s passions is to support people wherever they are on their life’s journey. With a down to earth approach, she draws from a lifetime of spiritual studies from many sources both from the eastern and western traditions. Applying the wisdom teachings to everyday living, she helps people to see their life from a higher perspective, gleaning understanding, enjoying the process and creating consciously. One of her strongest passions is supporting women, especially during pregnancy. This is a true opportunity for women to recognize their innate power learning to trust their bodies and intuition.

the profession of yoga therapySusana Jones, C-IAYT, is a graduate of Soul of Yoga’s Yoga Therapy Training Program. Her upbringing in Science of Mind gave Susana an early appreciation for eastern spirituality and yoga, which she brings to life through her dedicated practice and vocation. As the founder of Urban Yogi, Susana has operated a yoga studio, created a Registered Yoga School for certifying yoga teachers, and now works as a Yoga Therapist in private and clinical settings. Susana is a mentor for the Soul’s Yoga Therapy students.
