500-Hour Yoga Teacher Training

A complete path from student to teacher, and teacher to guide

This program is for those ready to go all in—a true immersion, the kind people travel the world to find, that still fits your real life.

The 500-hour track combines your 200-hour and 300-hour trainings into one aligned journey. You enroll in both and study concurrently, so your growth isn’t split into phases. Practice, knowledge, and teaching skills evolve together, each layer strengthening the next.

It’s integrative by design: what you learn doesn’t stay conceptual. You practice it, teach it, refine it, and work with guidance until it becomes lived wisdom.

The Fast Track

This accelerated path lets you complete your 500 hours in a continuous rhythm. Rather than finishing your 200-hour and waiting to begin your 300-hour, you enroll in both at once for a more immersive, consistent flow.

Drawn to it? Start with the 200-hour info packet and a meeting with our Assistant Director, Kei. Let Kei know you’d like to co-enroll in both programs, and we’ll guide you on timing, readiness, and next steps.

The 500-Hour Path

You’ll cover the full scope required for 500-hour certification. What sets this apart is how you move through it: not disconnected modules, but a guided progression where each layer builds on the last—continuous rather than segmented.

What You Will Learn

  • Asana, alignment, and intelligent sequencing that honor each posture and the realities of different bodies

  • Applied anatomy and physiology  so you teach safely and effectively

  • Multiple specialty areas so you build real skill in what calls to you

  • Pranayama, meditation, mantra, and subtle practices as direct experiences, not just ideas

  • Yoga philosophy and history that anchor your teaching in something deeper than trends

  • Teaching methodology – cueing, theming, presence, and class structure

  • Practicum and mentorship with feedback that grows you through repetition and refinement

  • Professional ethics and scope of practice so you teach with responsibility and care

  • Advanced inquiry and integration that carries the teachings into your life, work, and service

Highly Integrative By Design

This training is built around integration, because that’s how yoga becomes real—and experience is our greatest teacher

You’ll return to the same essential teachings at deeper levels, applying them through practice, self-inquiry, and teaching. You’ll have space to embody what you learn, not just collect information, while finding your own voice as a teacher. Over time your practice grows more consistent, your inner listening more attuned, and your teaching more natural, precise, and effective.

“The teacher training program at the Soul of Yoga has been formulated by a body of incredible human beings, each of whom has dedicated their lives to serving others and providing Yoga for the world. The program is thoughtful, effective, and gives the participants a fantastic education in the history, philosophy and practices of Yoga. The course does a great job covering each of the major modern lineages along with a look into the historical texts of the Bhagavad Gita and the Vedic traditions. The training also covers training in anatomy and physiology with specializations offered in Vinyasa, Gentle, Kundalini, and Yin yoga. I couldn’t recommend this program enough – I’m so glad I chose Soul of Yoga, and look forward to participating in many more training opportunities with them.”

Alex Turner

“I loved my yoga teacher training at Soul of Yoga. My core instructors met me right where I was at, offering a deep and vibrant education that has changed the course of my life. Instruction was offered in a “consent-based” fashion, modeling the teaching style I have come to emulate – one of acceptance and kind guidance. This approach to yoga embraces the humanity of yoga while teaching the awe-inspiring, deeply fulfilling roots of yoga that clarifies mind, body and spirit. I have such gratitude for my experience, and now feel I have a firm foundation from which to pay it forward.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this Yoga Alliance approved?

Yes. This pathway is registered with Yoga Alliance and fulfills all requirements for the 200-hour, 300-hour, and combined RYT-500 registration.

Can I lead my own trainings once I have a 500-hour certification?

A 500-hour level qualifies you as an advanced teacher (RYT-500). To lead 200-hour trainings through Yoga Alliance, you must also meet their experience requirement and register as E-RYT-500 with an RYS.

What is the difference between a 300-hour and a 500-hour certification?

The 300-hour is your advanced training taken after a 200-hour. When you complete both (200 + 300), you are eligible to register as a 500-hour teacher (RYT-500).

Do I need a 200-hour certification first?

If you already have a 200-hour, you can begin with the 300-hour track. If you are new and considering the 500-hour pathway, begin by getting the 200-hour info packet and meeting with Kei to explore whether co-enrolling in both programs is the right fit for you.

Can I take the 200-hour and 300-hour at the same time?

Yes. You begin with the 200-hour and let Kei know you are interested in the 500-hour path and in co-enrolling in both programs. We will guide you through how to move forward in a way that supports your learning.

Is this too much for someone who has never taken a training before?

If you feel genuinely called, it can be a powerful and supportive experience. The program is immersive but thoughtfully structured, with foundational and advanced material woven together in a way that is substantial yet workable.

Can I teach right away with a 500-hour path?

You can begin teaching once you complete the 200-hour portion and register as RYT-200, if you choose. The advanced hours continue to deepen and strengthen your teaching.

How long does it take to finish the 500-hour track?

Timelines vary depending on your schedule and format. Many complete the full 500 hours within about a year to eighteen months, while others move more gradually so they can fully absorb the experience.

What if I miss a session?

There are options to make up missed sessions and, depending on your track, access to recordings. You will receive clear guidance on how to stay on track and complete your hours.

I’m not sure I want to teach. Is the 500-hour still for me?

Yes. Many students come for depth, healing, and devotion. Teaching is available as a path, but it is not required for this work to be meaningful.

Does the 500-hour path include specialty training?

Yes. The advanced curriculum includes specialty areas so you can focus on the populations, styles, or themes you feel called to serve.

Do I need Yoga Alliance registration?

It is optional. If you want the credential, this training provides everything needed to register as RYT-200, RYT-300, and RYT-500 with Yoga Alliance.
