500-Hour Yoga Teacher Training

A complete, immersive path from student to teacher, and from teacher to guide

This 500-hour track brings your 200-hour and 300-hour trainings into one aligned experience. You register for both and begin studying concurrently

This program is for people who are ready to go all in. You are looking for a training that feels like a true immersion, the kind people often travel across the world to find, while still fitting into your real life. You want consistent practice, strong teaching skills, deep study, and support that helps you absorb, apply, and grow with the teachings over time.

This 500-hour track brings your 200-hour and 300-hour trainings into one aligned experience. You register for both and begin studying concurrently, so your growth isn’t divided into separate phases. Your practice, knowledge, and teaching skills evolve together in a complementary learning arc, with each layer strengthening the next.

This approach is highly integrative, designed so what you learn doesn’t remain conceptual. You will practice it, teach it, reflect on it, refine it, and work with guidance until it becomes lived wisdom.

The Fast Track

It’s important to understand that this is an accelerated path for students who want to complete their 500-hour training in a more continuous way. Instead of finishing your 200-hour first and waiting to begin your 300-hour, you have the opportunity to enroll in both programs concurrently, creating a more immersive and consistent rhythm of learning and practice.

If you feel drawn to this path, begin by getting the 200-hour info packet and arranging a meeting with our Assistant Director, Kei. During that conversation, let Kei know you are interested in co-enrolling in the 200-hour and 300-hour at the same time, and we will guide you through timing, readiness, and the best next steps for your schedule.

The 500-Hour Path

Your 500-hour experience includes the full scope of training required to become a 500-hour certified teacher. The difference is how you move through it.

This isn’t a set of disconnected modules. Instead it is a guided progression where each layer builds on the one before it. You move through foundational study while being supported to deepen, refine, and integrate, so your learning becomes continuous rather than segmented.

What You Will Learn

In this program, you will build a complete yoga education that includes:

  • Asana, alignment, and intelligent sequencing that honor the intention of each posture and the realities of different bodies

  • Applied anatomy and physiology so you understand what you are teaching and how to teach it in a way that is both safe and effective

  • Exploration of multiple specialty areas so you can develop real skill and confidence in what you feel most drawn toward

  • Pranayama, meditation, mantra, and subtle practices as direct experiences, not just ideas

  • Yoga philosophy and history, offering context so your teaching is anchored in something deeper than trends

  • Teaching methodology and communication skills, including cueing, theming, presence, and class structure

  • Practicum and mentorship with feedback that supports your growth through repetition and refinement

  • Professional ethics and scope of practice so you teach with responsibility and care

  • Advanced inquiry and integration that brings the teachings into your life, your relationships, your work, and your service

Highly Integrative By Design

This training is built around integration because that is how yoga becomes a real experience, and experience is our greatest teacher.

You will return to the same essential teachings at deeper levels, applying them through practice, self-inquiry, and teaching. You will have space to absorb and embody what you are learning rather than simply collecting information. You will also be supported in finding your voice as a teacher while remaining connected to the source of the tradition.

Over time, your practice becomes more consistent, your inner listening becomes more attuned, and your teaching becomes more natural, precise, and effective.

See Why Students Love Soul of Yoga

“The teacher training program at the Soul of Yoga has been formulated by a body of incredible human beings, each of whom has dedicated their lives to serving others and providing Yoga for the world. The program is thoughtful, effective, and gives the participants a fantastic education in the history, philosophy and practices of Yoga. The course does a great job covering each of the major modern lineages along with a look into the historical texts of the Bhagavad Gita and the Vedic traditions. The training also covers training in anatomy and physiology with specializations offered in Vinyasa, Gentle, Kundalini, and Yin yoga. I couldn’t recommend this program enough – I’m so glad I chose Soul of Yoga, and look forward to participating in many more training opportunities with them.”

Alex Turner

“I loved my yoga teacher training at Soul of Yoga. My core instructors met me right where I was at, offering a deep and vibrant education that has changed the course of my life. Instruction was offered in a “consent-based” fashion, modeling the teaching style I have come to emulate – one of acceptance and kind guidance. This approach to yoga embraces the humanity of yoga while teaching the awe-inspiring, deeply fulfilling roots of yoga that clarifies mind, body and spirit. I have such gratitude for my experience, and now feel I have a firm foundation from which to pay it forward.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this Yoga Alliance approved?

Yes. This pathway is registered with Yoga Alliance and fulfills all requirements for the 200-hour, 300-hour, and combined RYT-500 registration.

Can I lead my own trainings once I have a 500-hour certification?

A 500-hour level qualifies you as an advanced teacher (RYT-500). To lead 200-hour trainings through Yoga Alliance, you must also meet their experience requirement and register as E-RYT-500 with an RYS.

What is the difference between a 300-hour and a 500-hour certification?

The 300-hour is your advanced training taken after a 200-hour. When you complete both (200 + 300), you are eligible to register as a 500-hour teacher (RYT-500).

Do I need a 200-hour certification first?

If you already have a 200-hour, you can begin with the 300-hour track. If you are new and considering the 500-hour pathway, begin by getting the 200-hour info packet and meeting with Kei to explore whether co-enrolling in both programs is the right fit for you.

Can I take the 200-hour and 300-hour at the same time?

Yes. You begin with the 200-hour and let Kei know you are interested in the 500-hour path and in co-enrolling in both programs. We will guide you through how to move forward in a way that supports your learning.

Is this too much for someone who has never taken a training before?

If you feel genuinely called, it can be a powerful and supportive experience. The program is immersive but thoughtfully structured, with foundational and advanced material woven together in a way that is substantial yet workable.

Can I teach right away with a 500-hour path?

You can begin teaching once you complete the 200-hour portion and register as RYT-200, if you choose. The advanced hours continue to deepen and strengthen your teaching.

How long does it take to finish the 500-hour track?

Timelines vary depending on your schedule and format. Many complete the full 500 hours within about a year to eighteen months, while others move more gradually so they can fully absorb the experience.

What if I miss a session?

There are options to make up missed sessions and, depending on your track, access to recordings. You will receive clear guidance on how to stay on track and complete your hours.

I’m not sure I want to teach. Is the 500-hour still for me?

Yes. Many students come for depth, healing, and devotion. Teaching is available as a path, but it is not required for this work to be meaningful.

Does the 500-hour path include specialty training?

Yes. The advanced curriculum includes specialty areas so you can focus on the populations, styles, or themes you feel called to serve.

Do I need Yoga Alliance registration?

It is optional. If you want the credential, this training provides everything needed to register as RYT-200, RYT-300, and RYT-500 with Yoga Alliance.
