Why Choose Soul of Yoga Institute 200hr Training?

If You Want Quick, We’re Not It. If You Want Depth, Welcome Home.

If you’re looking for a quick certification, there are plenty of places for that…

But if you’re craving something deeper—a journey that’s personalized, soul-awakening, and grounded in true yogic wisdom—then Soul of Yoga Institute is where you belong.

Here, training isn’t transactional. It’s transformational. You’ll be guided by master teachers, supported by a conscious community, and given the space and structure to evolve—not just as a teacher, but as a human.

What Sets Us Apart From Other Trainings?

A True Exploration of Yoga’s Depth

Most programs give you one method. We give you many—a rare, multidimensional approach that honors classical yoga, modern science, subtle energy, mysticism, and more.

You’ll learn from master-level faculty across diverse lineages, so you can find the path that’s truly yours.

Ideal for students still discovering what resonates with them, offering a rich, exploratory journey rather than a one-track path.

Designed for Integration, Not Overwhelm

We structure our training with intentional space to absorb and integrate—through a blend of weekly practices and immersive retreat-style modules. It’s not a rush-to-the-finish-line kind of training.

This paced structure supports deeper personal transformation and avoids the burnout that can come from rapid, condensed programs.

No Pressure to “Pick a Lane”

Not sure if you’re a Vinyasa teacher or drawn to Kundalini? You’ll experience various styles like Vinyasa, Yin, Gentle, and Kundalini throughout the training before choosing your specialty.

We help you discover your unique teaching voice—on your timeline, not ours!

The program emphasizes self-inquiry and inner discernment, allowing students to discover what feels true for them, rather than being told what yoga “should” be.

Ultimate Flexibility Without Compromising Quality

Whether you join us in-person in Encinitas, California, live online, or through recorded sessions, you’ll receive the same high-caliber experience.

And you can mix formats week to week—ideal for those balancing careers, families, or travel.

Students can mix and match the way they attend:

  • In-Person
  • Live online
  • Recorded sessions

Rooted in a Sacred Location

Located in Encinitas, California—one of the world’s most revered spiritual hubs—our institute is more than a classroom. It’s a sanctuary for seekers, healers, and changemakers ready to deepen their path.

Frequently Asked Questions

What type of certification will I receive at the end of the training?2025-05-29T09:40:07-07:00

Upon graduating from Soul of Yoga’s RYS-200 program, the Soul of Yoga gives you a “200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training Certificate” that lists the school’s name, the 200-hour designation, your name, the completion date and a hand-signed signature from the lead trainer or owner—Yoga Alliance requires every school to include these elements.

If you later decide to register with Yoga Alliance, you upload that Soul of Yoga certificate, pay the application fee and annual dues, and once the organization verifies your record it confers the “Registered Yoga Teacher 200” (RYT 200) credential. At that point you can download a Yoga Alliance–branded RYT 200 certificate and digital badge from your member dashboard. In short, the school awards your primary completion certificate at graduation, while Yoga Alliance issues an optional credential and branded certificate only after you apply and are approved.

There is no exam or required teaching demonstration at the end of the training.

Why would I do this vs other programs?2025-05-24T07:53:33-07:00

Ideal for the yoga explorer, the breadth of knowledge, experiences, styles, lineages, and philosophy’s that you will encounter will likely not be found in any other programs.  We don’t shy away from either dimension of mysticism or science.

We don’t simplify it because it is the first level of training.  An you will get different perspectives from many different teachers.  We don’t shy away from contradictions as we believe in the student’s ability to discern what is the “truth” out of the different views presented.

There is time for integration as you learn many mind blowing concepts and deepen your practice over a lengthy period, rather than cramming it all in to just a few weeks.

You have the ability to specialize in one or more styles of yoga, and you don’t have to choose that specialty until you have enough experience to know the right specialty for you.

The flexibility between in-person, live online, and recorded video allows you to choose how to get the most out of this program given your personal demands and schedule.

What materials or books are required for this training?2025-05-24T07:52:05-07:00

There is very limited required materials or books.  The Yoga Toolbox asana manual is required.  There will be many other books presented as suggestions along the teacher training, and you can choose to read more where you have a genuine drive and curiosity to explore.

Are meals and lodging included?2025-05-24T07:50:57-07:00

This is not a residential program with food and lodging included, although many students travel for this training and find local lodging with friends or family, vacation rentals, or hotels.  Lunch breaks are 1 hour and 30 minutes to allow plenty of time to find nourishment, and there are many local options for healthy food within ½ mile of the Institute facility.

How long does it take to complete the certification?2025-05-24T07:49:52-07:00

The certification can sometimes be completed in as quickly as 9 months, but the average time is closer to a year. We allow up to two years if needed.

How much of the training can I do by recordings only?2025-05-24T07:49:27-07:00

For a 200-hour Registered Yoga School (RYS 200) program, Yoga Alliance now requires a minimum of 30 hours (15% of the curriculum) to be delivered synchronously (live, real-time contact with faculty online or in-person). That means the remaining 170 hours—up to 85% of the training—may be delivered asynchronously (self-paced videos, readings, assignments, etc.)
