Congratulations! Investigating yoga teacher training is an exciting time. Immersing yourself in training is transformative in so many ways.

As you look into training programs there are a few things to know and consider. There are many trainings in Encinitas and San Diego. It’s important to ask yourself the right questions making sure you invest your time and money in the right program.

  1. Why do you want to immerse yourself in training?Get clear on your intentions. If you aren’t sure why you want to enroll but feel drawn to do so, that’s ok too! Sometimes you have to follow your gut. But if you have a goal or two in mind be sure to communicate that to the lead teachers you talk with to be sure that your goals and intentions can be met.
  2. In what style do you want to train? Don’t choose the studio down the street just because it is a convenient location for you. Chose the training that offers exactly the style you love and want to teach. If you are considering our 200 Hour Hatha training maybe take a class or two with one of our lead trainers. See if their style resonates with you. It’s important to feel connected with what is being taught. We also offer a 200 Hour Kundalini training. Take classes in both to see which is more ‘you’! Your first class is free!
  3. What type of time commitment is ideal for you? We offer a variety of times throughout the year to take both our 200 Hour Hatha and 200 Hour Kundalini trainings and each one has slightly different scheduling. It’s important that your training fit comfortably in your life. If it is too difficult for you to get to training it can negatively impact your experience.
  4. What do you want to see included in the syllabus? Before you start looking for a program sit down and make a list of all of the things you want to learn. Don’t leave anything out. Get specific and make sure that the curriculum of the programs you look into will cover your interests. It’s also important to leave some room for the unexpected! We offer an overview of our curricula on our website but there is more to learn from our program directors Flossie Park and Marcia Frescura.
  5. Is the school registered with the Yoga Alliance®? If you decide that you want to train at a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School (RYS®) so that you can become a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT®) after completing your training, be sure make sure the schools and programs you look into are registered. We are a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School.
  6. Have others enjoyed and benefited from the training? Talk to other teachers who have completed a training at the school you are considering. We are more than happy to connect you with any number of folks who have taken our trainings so you can ask all the questions your heart desires!
