How we built the 2026 list

The 2026 lists reflect the Yoga Alliance directory as it stood on September 28, 2026: 6,462 listings belonging to 5,083 schools.

• Counting schools, not locations. Yoga Alliance moved its directory to a new website in late 2025, and it now groups a school’s locations under one parent school. We count each school once, with all of its reviews. Some names differ from last year’s list because of this.
• Ranking by reviews. Every teacher who registers with Yoga Alliance must review the school where they trained, so a school’s review count shows roughly how many registered teachers it has trained. The Top 100 is the 100 schools with the most reviews. The “highest rated” lists take those 100 schools, sort them by rating, and break ties by number of reviews.
• Checking every school’s training formats. Yoga Alliance’s directory doesn’t say whether a school’s teacher training is in person, online or hybrid, so I checked every school’s teacher training pages and recorded what it offers. Two schools’ websites didn’t load, so their formats are carried over from last year. The definitions are in the notes at the end.
• A snapshot of a moving directory. The directory changes every week as schools renew or let their registration lapse. Between September 28 and October 3, 80 schools dropped off and 56 were added, including five from this list. The lists below show the directory on September 28.
